Before severe weather
Keep emergency contacts, property records and essential supplies accessible. Follow local forecasts and official evacuation instructions. Identify a safe place to keep records if your building becomes inaccessible.
After the weather passes
Watch for downed lines, unstable trees and damaged structures. Photograph roof concerns from the ground and do not climb onto wet or damaged roofing. Active leaks may need safe temporary protection.
From temporary protection to repair
A tarp or board-up is a temporary measure. Keep photographs and receipts, discuss insurer documentation requirements, and arrange a permanent repair scope that also addresses any affected interiors.
