The 2027 Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 through November 30. Its storm-name list is already available, giving Houston-area households and businesses a useful reference for next year’s alerts. A published list of names does not tell us how active the season will be.
Forecast status as of October 12, 2026: NOAA has not yet published a 2027 Atlantic seasonal hurricane outlook in its official outlook archive. This early planning guide therefore contains no predicted 2027 storm totals or Houston landfall probabilities. For the current season’s issued forecast, see our 2026 hurricane guide.
Official 2027 Atlantic storm names
These 21 names appear in the 2027 column of the National Hurricane Center’s official list. The pronunciation column follows the NHC Atlantic pronunciation guide, with stressed syllables capitalized. This is the assigned sequence, not a prediction that all 21 names will be used.

Imani replaces Ida. The WMO Hurricane Committee retired Ida after the destructive 2021 hurricane and chose Imani. That is why a copied 2021 list is not an accurate 2027 list. Names help people identify a system; they do not describe its eventual intensity or destination.
What is known, and what still needs a forecast?
- Available now: the official season dates and assigned Atlantic names, plus established preparation guidance.
- Not yet published by NOAA for 2027: seasonal named-storm, hurricane and major-hurricane ranges, or above-/near-/below-normal activity probabilities.
- Not established by a seasonal name list: when a storm will form, its track, or whether it will affect Houston.
Check NOAA’s Atlantic seasonal outlook page and confirm the year and issue date before using its numbers. As of this guide’s review date, that page concerns 2026. NOAA’s archive generally provides a May outlook and an August update; a specific 2027 release date should be checked against future official announcements.
Do not carry the 2026 El Niño outlook or its hurricane forecast numbers forward as a 2027 forecast. The climate conditions relevant to the next hurricane season still need to be assessed. An earlier-year weather headline is not a substitute for that assessment.
Are there announced NHC product changes for 2027?
No 2027-specific product changes were confirmed in the official material reviewed for this guide. Check the NHC news and service announcements as the season approaches. The changes described in our 2026 guide belong to that year and should not be presented as new 2027 announcements.
Use the lead time to prepare your Houston property
A missing seasonal forecast need not delay ordinary maintenance. Start with problems you already know about: recurring roof leaks, drainage that backs up in heavy rain, damaged openings or an unfinished repair. Collect photographs, dates and earlier work records so the next assessment has useful context.
- Before spring: make one repair list and arrange qualified assessments for work that needs roof access or specialized skills. Review who can authorize work at a rental or commercial building.
- Before June: review evacuation routes, household communication plans and supplies. The National Weather Service’s preparation guide is a useful starting point. Include the people and pets who depend on your plan.
- When a system threatens: use the NHC’s current storm information and NWS Houston/Galveston updates. Follow local evacuation directions and leave time to act before conditions deteriorate.
For business owners, make the plan usable by someone other than its author. Record access instructions, a backup contact and the location of maintenance records. Decide how staff will report damage if they cannot safely reach the property.
HTX Elite Build can discuss roof assessments, planned repairs and commercial property readiness. Send your property details to start the conversation while there is time to organize the work.
