Reopening a workplace after a closure is an opportunity to review cleaning needs, access arrangements and the condition of the building. Create a plan based on how the space is used and any requirements that apply to your facility.
Walk through the property
List the rooms, shared equipment and surfaces that need attention. Note visible dirt, leaks, odors or damage that may require an assessment beyond routine cleaning. Identify restricted areas and agree on access before work starts.
Match the cleaning plan to the setting
CDC guidance for community facilities recommends regular cleaning of frequently touched surfaces and cleaning before disinfection. When disinfection is appropriate, follow the product label, including its required contact time and ventilation instructions. Healthcare and other regulated settings have separate requirements. Coordinate with staff and tenants
Explain which areas will be unavailable, how work is scheduled and who should receive questions. Discuss product information and occupancy concerns before cleaning. Keep the agreed scope available to the people coordinating access.
Communicate accurately
Describe the cleaning work actually performed. A cleaned surface or completed service visit is not a promise that a workplace is free of infection risk. Follow applicable public-health guidance for the activity taking place in the building.
Plan ongoing maintenance
