Vinyl is a common product description associated with certain plastics used in flooring, wall coverings and other building finishes. Product construction varies.
What this means at your property
A vinyl surface may resist some wetting while seams, backing or adjoining layers remain vulnerable. The name does not identify adhesive, underlayment or the condition of materials concealed beneath it.
What information helps a water-damage assessment?
Provide the product and installation records if available. Ask which layers were evaluated, whether moisture remains below the surface and what preparation is required before reinstalling or replacing the finish.
