A plenum is a space or chamber used for air movement within an HVAC system. Some buildings use a space above a ceiling for this purpose.
What this means at your property
Damage above ceiling tiles may therefore involve both building materials and an airflow path. A visible ceiling repair does not automatically address equipment, ducting or the condition of the space used to move air.
Who should review a plenum after a loss?
Ask the building’s HVAC contact and restoration provider to define their separate responsibilities. Confirm access, affected materials and any system assessment before the ceiling is closed and normal operation resumes.
