Migration means movement from one place to another. In restoration, specify whether the moving material is water, vapor, smoke or a contaminant.
What this means at your property
A stain may appear in a room away from the original entry point because water followed a joint or framing member. Smoke residue may also extend beyond the room where a fire occurred. The visible endpoint is not always the source.
How should the path be investigated?
Describe where the condition first appeared and where it later spread. Ask the assessment to distinguish the suspected movement path, confirmed affected materials and areas that remain inaccessible.
