Latex can describe a dispersion of polymer particles in a liquid. In property work, the word often appears in descriptions of water-based paint or certain adhesives.
What this means at your property
A painted wall and a carpet backing may both involve products described as latex, yet their behavior and care requirements differ. The label is not enough to select a cleaner, adhesive or replacement coating.
What product information should be retained?
Keep the manufacturer, product name, finish and application history where available. Ask the contractor to check compatibility with the existing substrate and proposed treatment rather than assuming all latex products respond alike.
